Hours + Access

Only students, both graduate and undergraduate, enrolled in classes or those with special advance permission may use the space. Students must be currently enrolled in printmaking classes or independent study hours to access the Printmaking area lab [PRES]. Enrolled students have the privilege of accessing the Printmaking area lab outside of scheduled course time only when a lab monitor is present during scheduled open studio hours. Days and hours are posted throughout the lab or listed at printmaking.uark.edu/hours/ and are subject to change. Graduate students have access to the lab outside of monitored hours. Undergraduate are not permitted to work in the studio even if/when graduate students are present during off-hours.

Students enrolled in Printmaking coursework learn the proper use of equipment for their safety and other standard operating procedures through an extensive orientation and continuous training in class. Access to the Printmaking area lab follows the guidelines set by the University’s Environmental Health and Safety Office and the UA Systemwide Policies and Procedures. Additionally, currently enrolled students have paid for consumable materials in the lab through their fees and those materials cannot be used by those not enrolled.

The Printmaking area does not provide individual instruction for students outside of current scheduled courses. Per University of Arkansas System Policies, the Printmaking area does not provide studio access to those not affiliated with the University unless it will serve an educational objective of the University and mission of the campus, division or unit, and such use will not interfere with the educational activities of the University. This is to be decided by the Printmaking area faculty.

Students may access the studio from the north door near the loading dock and must sign in with their name, time, and instructor. Students must start cleaning up projects no later than thirty [30] minutes before the end of open studio hours and must leave at the end of open studio hours. You must sign out at the end of your time in the studio.

If anything of immediate concern happens in the lab or you feel in danger in any way, immediately contact a graduate assistant monitor, faculty, or call the campus police at 479-575-2222.
