The Printmaking area at the University of Arkansas encourages students to investigate and challenge a diverse range of contemporary print media through experimentation, cross-disciplinary practices, conceptual issues, and critical thinking. Utilizing the history of print-based media, contemporary art historical and theoretical issues, and a thriving visiting artist program, students are encouraged to explore a range of topics that enable them to understand their own work and how it is situated within print media. Students are able to analyze the role of the printed mark and multiple in contemporary visual culture and contribute to the ever-expanding definition of the medium through practice and theory.
